The Body Dances in Stillness
Through my continuous movement practice I’m understanding the importance of a peaceful mind. If I can turn my brain off and trust that my body knows what to do, everything starts to flow. We find harmony. The body moves instinctively and this is where the mental game starts. Amongst the quiet that I find there. The mind chatter puts up a barrier, because the answers are not in my head. When I ask too many questions the body gets confused. It already knows what to do, I have to let each individual muscle and limb figure it out. So when they come together, each lesson is applied in sync. The brain can’t keep up half the time. And that’s okay. Switch off. Tune in. The practice starts with feeling into each movement. There is expression and spontaneity here. Freedom to let the body move in beautiful ways. Without the mind getting in the way. No need to control or over-analyse. The energy of the practice can guide me there. Trusting that the body will work in time. By slowing down the mind I leave room for the magic to happen. No expectations. No need to force. I relax into this space and discover the body flows better when the mind is still.
